WHY A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN:
Fine Linen Theatre is all grown up and needs a home!
During the past 20 years we have matured from a small project for homeschooled students, to a thriving community theatre organization serving the broader Rolla and central Missouri region. We never expected to expand as we have, and it is all thanks to the support of our incredible community.
As a mature organization, we have reached the point that rehearsing in various borrowed and temporary locations, and squeezing our expanding stock of costumes, sets, props and tech equipment in random rental spaces garages, closets, and spare bedrooms is no longer a sustainable model by which to function. It is time for Fine Linen to have a home.....a physical space in Rolla for the operational components of our organization to inhabit.
WHAT ARE WE BUILDING:
We have purchased the lot adjacent to the Cedar Street Playhouse and plan to construct a modest metal-sided building to house:
- rehearsal hall
- choir/orchestra studio
- construction shop
- costume shop and laundry
- kitchen/green room
- set, prop, costume and tech storage
- rehearsal viewing balcony
Are we building a stage and auditorium?
No. We plan to continue to collaborate with Ozark Actors Theatre and Leach Theatre to perform in their amazing facilities, but are excited that an operations base that is all our own will allow us to more fully realize one of Fine Linen's ultimate goals: bringing people together through collaborative art.
As we have grown, it has become increasingly difficult to bring people together, to collaborate, and to respect the time of the volunteers who make our productions possible when it is necessary to constantly be moving from location to location, and splitting up departments, families, and cast groups to fit into smaller spaces.
Please join us in building a home for Fine Linen Theatre where we can build relationships and build our community!
